UNICEF Returns 514,743 Children Back to School in Adamawa

The United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) working in Adamawa State have reportedly tracked 544,951 out-of-school children in five local government areas of the state and successfully returned 514,743 back to school.

Bhanu Pathak, UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Bauchi disclosed this at a ceremony organized in Fufore to mark the commencement of the reconstruction and renovation of 80 schools in Fufore and Guyuk local government areas of the state.

He said the organization’s partnership with Adamawa state in the area of education have yielded positive results and further urged the state government to release the N200 million counterpart funding for the implementation of all basic education intervention in the state for 2020.

Responding at the occasion, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri thanked the UNICEF for its efforts in ensuring that children in the state were supported to get basic and quality education and promised to fulfil its part in driving education by ensuring the immediate release of its counterpart fund.
