UNICAL Expels 107 Students Who Tendered Fake O’level Certificates at the Time of Admission

It was gathered that 107 students of the University of Calabar who got admission into the institution with fake O’level results between 2009 and 2012 have been expelled.

According to the public relation Officer of the Institution, Mr. Effiong Eyo, 19 Direct Entry students in the 2011/2012 academic session were sanctioned for this.

Number of students sanctioned in the departments of Curriculum and Teaching, Medical Laboratory, Sociology, Medicine and Surgery, Marketing, Law and Linguistics and Communication Studies are 65, 18, 10, 10, 9, 9 and 8 respectively.

Accounting had 4, Micro Biology 3, Vocational and Special Education 3, Human Kinetics and Health Anatomy 2, Political Science 2, Soil Science 2, Economics 2, Business Management 3, Philosophy 2, Agriculture 2, Modern Language 2, Educational Foundation Guidance Counseling 2 and 1 student in the Departments of Geography and Regional Planning, Marine Chemistry, Public Administration, Chemistry, Maths/Statistics, Regional Planning, Library and Information Technology, History and International Studies.

In a similar development, 48 students have been either suspended for either one or two years or outright expulsion for examination malpractice between the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 sessions.
