The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has arrested one Emmanuel Uwakwe, a trader, for impersonating six candidates sitting for the institution’s ongoing aptitude test.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, October 26, by the university's Security officials after it was detected that he had stayed longer than expected on the computer.
Emmanuel was said to have been arrested while trying to log in with the personal identification number for the seventh candidate he was impersonating. During interrogations, he revealed that he is based in Abia state and has a shop in Aria-ria market, and was promised a service fee of N50,000 to write the exams for seven candidates.
The university's chief security officer, Mr. Austin Bisong revealed that all the six candidates Emmanuel had written the exams for, can never have their results, and they have also risked their admission status with the university.
He further added that an investigation was ongoing to unravel if he was assisted by any staff of the institution or security personnel after which he would be handed over to an external security agency for further investigation and necessary action.
