The University of Benin (UNIBEN) invites applications from suitable candidates for admission into its JUPEB Pre-Degree (Foundation) Studies for the 2023/2024 academic session. This prestigious institution is known for its high academic standards and commitment to fostering intellectual development among its students.
About UNIBEN JUPEB Programme
The Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) Programme at the University of Benin guides students towards obtaining a certificate that paves the way for Direct Entry Admission into the 200 level of degrees offered by the University and other universities affiliated with JUPEB in Nigeria and abroad. This certificate stands equivalent to the Advanced Level GCE, the Old Higher School Certificate (HSC), or IJMB.
Upon enrolment into the Programme, each student will be involved in an intensive academic routine comprising three subject combinations pertinent to their intended field of study. These subjects are divided into four courses, labelled 001, 002, 003, and 004. Each student will tackle six courses per semester, culminating in a total of twelve courses upon the completion of the programme. Furthermore, students are required to participate in at least two general studies courses (one per semester). Each course undergoes examination at the conclusion of each semester. However, the cumulative results of all the courses at the end of the second semester will determine a letter grade for each subject (i.e., A, B, C, D, E & F). The selection of general studies courses will be aligned with courses that are relevant to the student’s field of study.
For gaining admission into the University of Benin or any other institution affiliated with JUPEB, it is incumbent upon each student, besides successfully passing the stipulated JUPEB examination for obtaining the Direct Entry Certificates, to meet all the admission prerequisites set forth by the departments and faculties of their chosen field.
