Luck has shined on a 200-level student of the University of Benin, (UNIBEN) named Jennifer Efemonghe, after her interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) went viral and caught the attention of Nigeria's Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.
In the interview, the student of the Department of Banking and Finance disclosed that she works at construction sites by carrying cement in order to be able to raise money for her education and upkeep.
This revelation caught the attention of the Minister, who then requested that the public and BBC avail him the contact details of the 20-year old student.
Upon contacting the student, the Minister decided to grant her a full scholarship under the DAD Foundation set up in memorial of his late father. The scholarship covers both her tuition and accommodation until she completes her University education in three years’ time.
The Minister admonished the student not to return to the menial cement carrying job, but rather to concentrate on her studies to emerge with outstanding results.
