UNIBEN Admission Requirements For Fresh UTME & DE Candidates 2023/2024 Session

UNIBEN Admission Requirements For Fresh UTME & DE Candidates 2023/2024 Session

Admission into UNIBEN (University of Benin) is becoming stiffer every academic session, this is due to the fact that many candidates do not adhere to the laid down admission requirements of the institution even before selecting them as their preferred choice of institution.

Most candidates select UNIBEN as their preferred choice of institution simply because they have close friends there, the beauty of the university, the lifestyle of UNIBEN students or hearsays from third parties. These criteria are wrong judgment for selecting either UNIBEN or any tertiary institution.

Ideally, a university should be selected based on educational grounds and not social basis. When schools are selected based on the later candidates get better informed because they will find out the admission requirements for the school and this gives them better information on how to approach the school and meet the required need as demanded by the institution.

Without doubt, UNIBEN is one of the most registered schools during UTME registration every academic session which automatically makes competition into the school tough.

In this post we will be revealing the core admission requirements into UNIBEN, meeting these requirements means candidates are 70% sure of gaining admission into the University of Benin.

This post is most beneficial for the following categories:
1. Candidates who have selected the University of Benin as their preferred choice of institution during their UTME registration.

  1. Direct Entry candidates either from UNIBEN JUPEB and Diploma programmes or any of their diploma programmes or from other recognized university or polytechnics in Nigeria.
  2. Transfer students from other universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

The post will give you an in-depth knowledge of UNIBEN admission requirements as a fresh applicant seeking admission into the institution.

UNIBEN Admission Requirements For UTME Candidates

a) WAEC and NECO (O’Level) requirements for UTME and Direct Entry candidates.

b) Minimum JAMB score any candidate apply for admission into OAU must obtain in order for him or her to participate in their post UTME screening exercise.

c) Other requirements not listed on the school’s website.

Firstly we will be taking you through on the general entry admission requirements before going into specifics for example, admission requirements for Medicine and Surgery in OAU, OAU admission requirements for Nursing and so on as this would further clarify candidates on whether or not to select the course in question plus it would help them ascertain their eligibility status for the University and the course.

UNIBEN Admission Requirements For Fresh UTME DE Candidates 20232024 Session 2

UNIBEN Admission Requirements For UTME Candidates.

  1. WAEC & NECO (‘O’ Level) Requirements: Candidate must obtain a minimum of Credit pass which must include English Language and Mathematics plus any other 3 subjects as it relates to your choice of course. You might want to ask how you are expected to know the subjects that relate to your preferred choice of course. Never mind because that has been taken care of. To find out the subject that relate to your course, all you need to do is to search for the correct subject combination for the course. Here is a link that contains the list of all subjects and their approved subject combinations for admission into OAU Ile ife and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

UNIBEN Admission Requirements For Direct Entry Candidates

  1. Only candidates who applied through JAMB for DIRECT ENTRY Admission and chose the University of Benin as First Choice are eligible for this Screening Exercise are eligible
  2. WAEC & NECO (‘O’ Level) Requirements: Obtained at least five (5) credit passes at GCE O/L, SSCE, NECO, or their equivalent. The subjects must include English Language, and Mathematics (for courses for which a credit in mathematics is required) as well as three other relevant subjects (four if excluding mathematics); at not more than two sittings.
  3. DE Candidate seeking admission into UNIBEN must have a minimum of Upper Credit in their ND or HND and must have changed their institution to UNIBEN by making UNIBEN their 1st choice.

Are you a DE candidate in need of the right subject combination for your course? You can verify from the link above.

NOTE: Combination of results are allowed by the university but the year written on both must not be 2 years apart.

The above are UNIBEN admission requirements for O’Level subjects. We start with O’Level subjects because they are the most important. Without a complete O’Level result University of Benin will never admit you no matter your JAMB score or certificates.

Another requirements into the University of Benin is that candidates must score up to the minimum JAMB cut off mark for UNIBEN. The danger of not scoring up to this score automatically means candidate cannot participate in the post UTME screening exercise.

UNIBEN Minimum Required JAMB Cut Off Marks For Admission

As part of the admission requirements to gain admission into UNIBEN, aside meeting their O’Level admission requirements, candidate must score up to their UTME minimum JAMB score which will be revealed below for those who do not know this.

UNIBEN JAMB Cut Off Mark For UTME Candidates

As part of UNIBEN’S admission requirements for fresh applicants, any candidate apply or seeking admission into this institution must score at least 200 and above. The University of Benin is one of the few universities in Nigeria that have their cut off mark at 200 despite JAMB’s directive to drop it to 180.

Other schools to that refused to drop their cut off mark are University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Ibadan (UI) and UNN. So any candidate seeking admission into any of the above must score at least 200 and above to be eligible to participate in their post UTME screening examination exercise.

The untold truth about UNIBEN’s admission requirement is that candidates who score below 230 find it very difficult to gain admission into this school except he or she is going for a very less competitive course like any of the language courses, courses under faculty of Education.

So if you
