UNIABUJA revokes over 100 Illegal hostel bookings

The dean of Students Affairs, Dr Abubakar Umar Kari, has said the University management revoked the illegal bookings of at least a hundred students who tried to compromise the Hostel Allocation Portal to secure accommodation.

Kari said the students had been automatically blacklisted from seeking hostel accommodation forthwith and would be made to face disciplinary action.

In an email to the University community on Friday 28th January 2022, the dean wrote, "We are happy to announce that we uncovered a spirited attempt by some desperate and unscrupulous students and their collaborators who tried to compromise the Hostel Allocation Portal and illegally book hostel spaces.

-Those involved are being fished out (in a careful, ongoing operation), their illegal bookings have been revoked and they are automatically blacklisted from seeking hostel accommodation forthwith. They will also be subjected to due disciplinary process.

He warned that the management would not tolerate any fraudulent hostel accommodation, noting that the integrated portal system had been designed to check such fraud and make the allocation of hostel spaces very transparent and seamless.
