UNIABUJA Receives Full NUC’s accreditation for 12 of it courses

The University of Abuja, UNIABUJA  has received Full NUC accreditation for 12 of it courses. This was disclosed by the Director of Quality Assurance, National Universities Commission (NUC), N.B. Saliu.

It was gathered that the course that recently received full accreditation are Accounting, Business Administration, Arabic Studies, Theatre Arts, Christian Religious Studies, and English Language, History, Diplomatic Studies, Islamic Studies, Linguistics, Philosophy, History Education and Social Studies Education.

Confirming this development, the spokesperson of the University of Abuja Governing council, Ediga Agbo, said that during the  NUC’s accreditation visit in 2016 for the assessment of the courses, the situation then looked so bleak that that it seems that was no future for the university.

According to him, “The Engineering students had been sent out to other universities and the medical students were on strike as they had spent 4 to 5 years without accreditation and the Council confronted these situations head-on.

“Today, the university has 53 programmes with 28 having full accreditation, 23 have interim accreditation and others have denials.

“UNIABUJA hopes to get 95 per cent of its courses approved by the NUC during the next accreditation in May.”
