The Governing Council of the University of Abuja has inaugurated the panel for staff and students audit for the institution as being directed by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Members of the panel include Prof Abdullahi Ribadu who is chairman, Prof Anthony Adegbulugbe, Prof Ediga Agbo, Hajiya Aisha Babangida and Dr Godswill Ogboghodo, who is to serve as secretary.
The Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, while inaugurating the panel yesterday revealed that the exercise will help the management of the institution in carrying out its responsibilities to the institution.
Ogbemudia urged the panel to work towards the expectation of the government and come out with accurate number of staff and students of the institution.
The council chairman listed the terms of reference of the panel as developed by the NUC to include, accurate number of academic staff and the regularity of their appointments, qualifications and dates obtained and appropriateness of the total number of staff and postings.
Others include, productivity and career progression, number of students, the regularity of the admission and their different programmes/courses, recommendations for improvement in future appointment of staff and admission of students as well as recommendations on any other issue the panel considers relevant to its assignment.
