Report reaching us has it that the University of Ibadan UI has been shut down following the protest staged by the students of the institution earlier today.
At the moment students have been ordered to vacate the campus on or before 6:00pm today.
It was learnt that the students earlier today staged a protest over what they described as the insensitivity of the school management.
Some of the students complained about their inability to obtain the school identity cards which is a prerequisite for writing the forth coming examination that was suppose to commence this week.
Some others complained about the banning of electric cooking appliance commonly known as hot plate in the school hostels.
According to the University’s Director of Communications and Publication, Olatunji Oladejo, the closure became necessary in other to avert crisis.
He stated that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, had convened an emergency meeting of the university Senate to look at the circumstances surrounding the protest.
It was equally gathered that the semester examination which was to commence this week has been shifted to July 2017.
All undergraduate students are to resume back in school on July 17 while the post graduate students would continue to stay on campus for their research activities.
