The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has addressed the issue of expired Identity cards for graduating students and late issuance of Identity cards for new students.
This was disclosed in an internal memorandum released on Friday 20th January, 2023, from the office of the Vice Chancellor, Examinations Monitoring Committee, directed to all students, titled “New and Expired I. D. Cards.”
According to the memorandum signed by the Chairman, Examinations Monitoring Committee, Prof. Yahaya T. Baba, "some temporary measures have been taken to facilitate seamless access to Examination venues for the affected categories of students.
Part of the statement reads: “Students yet to be issued with I.D cards shall be allowed into the Examination Halls using their confirmation of Admission (Confirmation Letter).
“Students with expired I.D Cards should be considered by the EMC, pending the issuance of new ones; and
“Students with faded/disfigured I.D cards (yet to be issued with new ones) should be provided with temporary I.D cards by the EMC, pending the issuance of new ones.”
The memorandum, however, disclosed the EMC members that are designated to handle the issues of temporary I.D card/Examinations card for various faculties.
“Dr. Amina Yusuf Jega ( Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences) for CHS and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
“Prof. Chika Muhammad (Energy and Applied Chemistry) for Faculties of Chemical & Life Sciences and Physical and Computing Sciences.
“Prof. Yahaya T. Baba (Chairman EMC) Political Science Department —for Arts and Humanities, Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture,” it stated.
