A video posted online captures the moment traditionalists dressed in white attires were protesting against the recent appointment of the vice-chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU), Professor Adeboye Bamire.
The protesters converged at the school premises on Monday, March 21, reciting some incantations while moving in a circular motion. It was revealed that their grievances against the vice-chancellor were largely due to his place of origin
The protest started off last week shortly after Bamire’s appointment was announced.
The protesters have insisted that an indigene of Ile-Ife should take the position.

They insist the new VC for OAU(Prof Bamirẹ́) that was recently appointed isn't qualify for the post because he is not from Ìfẹ́ and the new VC must be an indigene of Ìfẹ́.#OAUTwitter #oau #greatife pic.twitter.com/vRfZrgwisE
