Students are hereby informed that the Electoral Committee at its meeting held on Thursday 6th January, 2022 resolved as follows;
1. That the mode of voting and campaign shall strictly be on line (e-voting)
2. Pasting of Posters on the walls is strictly disallowed, candidate can distribute flyers to eligible voters.
3. There should be no campaign outside the Campus (House to house campaign is entirely banned).
4. Wearing of customized/Branded Vest within the premises of the Institution before, during and after the election is prohibited. Anyone caught violating this regulation will be decisively sanctioned in line with the rules and regulations of the Institution. On the discovery of any student/group of students wearing branded vest within the premises of the Institution, the Institution's Security personnel should be informed to wrest the concerned and report to the Directorate of Students Affairs for further investigation.
5. Only Registered Students as at first semester of 2021/2022 academic session with SUG receipt will be allowed to vote and be voted for
6. Students must ensure that their names are on the List of Registered Students.
7. All aspirants must have agents in the Rectors Conference Room (Situation Room) where online voting would be monitored. The agent should be from same school of the candidate and must be accredited. (i.e. registered students whose name is on the list of registered students from one of the departments in that school). The name of Agents should be forwarded to the Directorate of Students Affairs not later th days before the election.
8. Students should be wary of the type of people around them.
9. Only main gate of the Institution will be opened on the Election Day.
10. Vehicular movement will be restricted
11. Students are expected to lodge complaint(s) before, during and even after the Elections to the Electoral Committee.
12. Voting would be done online. Every eligible voter would be given a code for election portal
13. All Aspirants must sign Oath of Undertaking peace accord for strict adherence to election rules Such candidates must receive confidential recommendation letter from their Heads of Departments and Dean of School, addressed to the electoral committee
14.Every eligible aspirant must be free from any perming Students Disciplinary case.
15. Students should comport themselves in an orderty manner.
16. The Security Agents both from within and outside the Campus will be on ground to forestall possible breakdown of Laws and order.
17. Any aspirant for election into any of the Union offices must have attained at least 2.6 CGPA with the exception of the President, Vice President, Speaker and General Secretary who shall have at least 3.1 CGPA.
18. The cost of obtaining Nomination Form for the post of President, Vice President and General Secretary is N4,000.00 while others would pay N3,500.00 at the Bursary. Qualification for contesting election will be based on successful screening coupled with favourable security report from paramilitary agencies. Please ensure strict adherence to these regulations.
PENALTY:
Any aspirant that violates any of the above rules and regulations shall be out rightly disqualified from the contest. To be fore-warned is to be fore-armed.
