Topmost college of education recently matriculated 140 students admitted for the National Certificate in Education (NCE).
In her address, the provost, Dr Oluwafunmilayo Odunayo, disclosed that the institution was established to turn out well trained, ICT- compliant teachers and administrators and entrepreneurs through the vocational training offered by the institute; urging the fourth set of fresh students to be not to be social misfits but rather responsible students.
She also stated that the institution is currently running 14 full time programmes, all accredited by the regulatory body, the National Council for Colleges of Education.
On the other hand , the chairman of the college, Mr Wale Odunayo revealed that inception of the institution started when it acquired five acres of land in the Ipaja/Agbado neighbourhood saying the next dream of the institution is to set up a University of Education and asked for the support of the host community.
According to him, TOPCOED has been granted licence to offer Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) to and admonished school owners to take advantage of this by sending their teachers to the institution to run the programme as this will qualify their teachers as professionals.
