A 24-year-old Mathematics graduate from the University of Ilorin, Ayodeji Akinsanya, has been named the institution’s best-graduating student with an impressive CGPA of 4.97. His academic journey is a testament to resilience and dedication, shaped significantly by years of home-based education from his father.
After a family setback made formal schooling financially unfeasible, Akinsanya's father, a statistics graduate, took it upon himself to teach his children at home, instilling a love for mathematics. Speaking to Punch Newspaper, Akinsanya shared that receiving the recognition of top student was an "overwhelming" experience, especially when he received a standing ovation from the vice-chancellor.
Akinsanya began his journey at UNILORIN in 2019, but the foundation of his success was built years earlier. Reflecting on his father's commitment, he said, “He taught us at home, focusing primarily on mathematics, which was his strength.” This early tutelage paved the way for Akinsanya's remarkable academic achievements.
