Admission Requirements Into School of Nursing in Nigeria For 2024/2025 Academic Session

Candidates seeking admission into School of Nursing in Nigeria must meet the following criteria.

  1. Must have a minimum of 5 credits in 5 subjects including English Language and either Physics, chemistry, biology, or Health science at not more than 2 sittings.

Choosing Nursing as a career, there are two options to be chosen from,

A) If you want to be a trained Registered Nurse (RN) in Nigeria. Candidates or applicants should apply to any school of nursing for a 3 year programme, and upon completion, he or she would enrol for an external exam conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and must meet up the pass mark as stipulated by the NMCN in order to be a registered nurse (RN).

B) The second option is for applicants to apply to a University for a 5 year programme, and upon completion sit for external exams conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), and the West Africa Health Examination Board (WAHEB). Upon completion the University trained nurse automatically becomes a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife, and Registered Public Health Nurse with a Bachelors degree in nursing (B.Sc Nursing).
