The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Abia State University, Dr. Victor Nkemdirim, has confirmed the death of three lecturers of the institution. The three lecturers reportedly died on the same day, Friday, September 3.
They are, Prof. A. I. Nwabughuogu of the History/International Relations Department, Dr. D. S. Okoroigwe of the Geography/Planning Department, and lecturer from the Department of Political Science.
According to a source who spoke to newsmen, lecturers of the institution were suffering economic hardships, as they were being owed more than seven months' salaries.
