The Minister of Education is primarily responsible for coordinating the formulation of national policies and guidelines for uniform standards, collecting and collating data for planning, financing, and ensuring quality control at all levels of education in Nigeria. The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the National Policy on Education, among other things, make this clear.

Originally from Bauchi State, Mallam Adamu studied accounting at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria. In addition to all of that, he’s a well-known author and public analyst. As a public commentator, Mallam Adamu was frequently praised for his style and intelligence. Profile of the Minister of Education

Chartered Accountant Mallam Adamu Adamu (born May 25, 1954) is a Nigerian accountant and journalist who currently serves as the Minister of Education in Nigeria.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria with a degree in accounting. A few years after that, he graduated from the Columbia University School of Journalism with a master’s in journalism. He is fluent in Hausa, English, Farsi, Persian, Arabic, and French, as well as has a good command of Hausa.

Adamu worked as an accountant in Bauchi, Nigeria, for a few months after graduating before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. Since his first job with the New Nigerian Newspapers as a Special Correspondent and member of the editorial board of the New Nigerian group of newspapers, he has been a public analyst and writer on an array of topics. He was promoted to the positions of Deputy Editor and Chairman of the Editorial Board at the New Nigerian newspaper. Media Trust’s back-page columnist [Friday Column] Adamu has also contributed to several news outlets, including Crescent International, in Canada and the United States. Adamu also served as a Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, General Muhammadu Buhari, when he was in office. He was a member of Muhammadu Buhari’s APC Presidential Transition Committee before becoming a minister in 2015.

President Muhammadu Buhari first appointed Adamu as Minister of Education on November 11, 2015, along with 35 other individuals. As a result of President Buhari’s second term, on August 21, 2019, the Senate voted to reappoint him.

Duties, Functions & Responsibilities of the Minister of Education

1) Coordination of Other Educational Agencies and Parastatals
