The Chairman of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe, has described the process and the conduct of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as credible. He praised the Register, Prof Is-shaq and his management team for providing a "credible and world-class assessment," as he declared the 2019 exercise to be the best so far technologically, and in terms of administration.
He disclosed that the board deliberately held back the release of results to ensure that candidates involved in examination malpractices did not get away with false results. Speaking on the conduct of the exams at various CBT centres, the Chairman said:
“I moved round to monitor the registration exercise across selected centres in the country with view to making sure that the policy of the Federal Government for creating access and equal opportunity to all candidates was not subverted,”
He stated that the tour around the computer-based test (CBT) centres was to ensure strict compliance with the government’s directives on the reduction of application and registration fees.
He added that the close monitoring and supervision by the board had exposed criminal syndicates who were involved in multiple registrations and other forms of infractions. These infractions he explained to have resulted in the delay in the release of results.
The Chairman who expressed satisfaction in the conduct of the exercise assured that the Registrar would continue to monitor the entire process to ensure that the system was not compromised in anyway.
