The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has revealed purported plots by fraudsters to defraud unsuspecting Nigerian students by luring them to register for a fake grant supposedly given by the organization.
The fund's Director of Corporate Affairs, Abdulmumin Oniyangi, made the revelation in a statement issued on Monday, May 31, saying the misleading information is being circulated on various platforms, suggesting that TETFUND was giving out N20,000 to every student.
Oniyangi explained that the scammers claim that the grant was part of TETFund’s 2021 budget to support two million students, with registration allegedly closing on June 6,2021. He distanced the agency from the scam, maintaining that it was another attempt by criminals to deceive students and members of the public.
