Tech-U Ibadan awards automatic employment, scholarship to first class graduates

The vice-chancellor of First Technical University, Ibadan, Professor Ayobami Salami, has disclosed that the institution has granted automatic employment to the 12 first-class graduates recently produced by the school

Professor Salami who made the disclosure during the maiden convocation of the university said the employment is available to all First Class graduates who are interested in academic pursuits immediately and can be accessed immediately after their National Youths Service.

He further stated that the university management in partnership with local and international entities has secured postgraduate scholarships to all of those who are willing to accept the offer, to enable them to pursue Master’s degree training in the United States of America, as well as split-site Ph.D. degree programs.

A total of 63 students graduated during the first convocation, 12 of them with First Class honors, 25 with Second Class upper-division, 24 with Second Class lower division, and two with Third Class. Afonja Mariam Adewumi from the Microbiology Department emerged as the overall best graduating student with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.91.
