Union Urges LASG to Release 2013 Teachers’ Promotion Results:
The Lagos State Branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers on Thursday urged the State Government to release the 2013 primary school teachers promotion examination results.
The Chairman of the chapter, Mr Segun Raheem, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the 2013 promotion result was now belated.
“The result of the 2013 promotion examination ought to have been released before now, so that it will not affect this year’s promotion.
“How can the result be released when unfortunately, the oral is yet to be conducted, candidates only wrote the written examination and have been waiting for the oral exercise since last year.”

Raheem said that the situation had worsened because teachers earlier promoted in 2011/2012 had not benefited financially from the exercise.
“Primary school teachers who were promoted in the 2011/2012 batch only received letters to that effect but the financial aspect had not been implemented.
“Primary school teachers are under the Local Governments and they were expected to handle all financial matters relating to them.
“It was the intervention of the commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, when the union threatened to go on strike that led government to promise the implementation this January.
“The financial implementation of the 2011/2012 promotion is yet to be effected even in January as promised earlier.
“We just confirmed the release of the circular backing the payment of the 2011/2012 promotion this January,” he said.
He urged the State Government to urgently address the issue so that teachers would not be denied their rights.
