Thomas Adewumi University gets approval to admit candidates for IJMB programme

Thomas Adewumi University has been granted approval by the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) to admit candidates for IJMB programme on 2nd June, 2023. This approval comes after a successful preliminary visit by IJMB officials to assess the University’s facilities, curriculum, and general eligibility to host the programme. This program is intended to give students the chance to enroll in Nigerian institutions through a one-year advanced level curriculum as an alternative to the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) administered by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Following the comprehensive assessment during the Preliminary visit to ensure the unit meet the required standards, the IJMB officials were impressed by TAU’s dedication to quality education and its commitment to supporting students' academic growth. TAU has demonstrated the necessary resources and facilities to deliver the IJMB programme effectively. Expressing their satisfaction with the visit, Prof. Haruna Aminu, the IJMB Coordinator, commended the University for its preparedness and commitment to meeting the requirements for hosting the IJMB programme. The team was delighted to see that the Institution has shown great enthusiasm in providing a solid platform for IJMB candidates to achieve their academic goals. They carefully evaluated the facilities, curriculum, and overall commitment to excellence, and are confident in our ability to deliver the programme successfully."

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, expressed her delight at the approval, stating, "We are honoured to have been granted the approval to admit candidates for the IJMB programme. This is a testament to our commitment to providing quality education and expanding access to higher learning opportunities. We look forward to welcoming talented and motivated students into our university community and supporting them on their educational journey." This approval from the IJMB is expected to open new opportunities for aspiring students who wish to pursue their tertiary education through the IJMB programme. By gaining admission to Thomas Adewumi University, candidates can access a wider range of courses and educational pathways.

With the IJMB programme now being offered at TAU School of Advanced Studies, it is expected that more students will opt for this alternative pathway to gain admission into Nigerian universities. The programme offers a well-structured curriculum that helps students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and prepares them for undergraduate studies. We are set to commence the admission process for the IJMB programme, providing detailed information on eligibility criteria, application procedures, and program commencement dates. This approval from the IJMB marks a significant milestone for the University and reinforces its commitment to providing diverse educational opportunities and promoting excellence in Nigerian higher education.
