TASUED: Students Protest and Matters Arising

Sequel the protest by the students of the Tai Solarin University of Education (Tasued) and the Damage done to school properties, which led to a meeting involving Principal Officers, Deans, Director of Academic Units and Staff Union leaders today, Wednesday, 11th June, 2014, the authorities have made public the following:

- Management noted that 85% of the Student population had paid their school fees ahead of the examination while 15% are yet to do so.

- Management should not close down the University in the interest of the Students so as not to elongate the academic session.

-The on-going 2013/2014 1st Semester Examination should continue from Friday, 13th June, 2014 with adequate security protection.

- The examination originally scheduled for Wednesday, 11th June, 2014 and Saturday, 14th June, 2014 be entirely moved to the last day of the examination.

-Security apparatus to be beefed up and strengthened to protect lives and property on campus.

-An investigation panel to be instituted with strong terms of reference to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the students’ vandalism.

-No Payment, No Examination policy of the University to be maintained and any student who wrote examination without payment will have no result.

Management appeals to all staff and students for calm.

TASUED is our collective project; the interest of TASUED must not be jeopardized.
