The Vice Chancellor, Prof Oluyemisi Obilade recently urged the matriculating students to start the race for good grades at the beginning of their course of study rather than waiting when it might be late, noting that hard work and perseverance are needed in achieving excellence.

She said this during the induction of new sets of students into the six year Part Time Programme of the Centre for Part Time & External Programmes (CEPEP) for the 2014/2015 Session.

The Vice Chancellor, described the opportunity offered to the matriculating students as a great privilege and a second chance to actualise their dreams. She further added that matriculation is an occasion to properly induct fresh students into the University system and the beginning of scholarly advancement.

“Matriculation is just one of the stages in attainment of academic pursuit; it is therefore my belief that the ethics of the teaching profession would be imbibed in you. TASUED has gone a long way in producing professionals in the field of education and possess all it takes to train World Class teachers,” she added.

On adherence to rules and regulations, she advised the fresh students to shun lawlessness, gangsterism, cultism, inappropriate dressing, exam malpractice and disobedience as there is zero tolerance for social vices on the campus.

The matriculation oath was then administered by the Registrar, who was represented by the Deputy Registrar; (Establishments), Mr F.O.Odutuga.
