The chairman of Mushin Local Government, Lagos, Mr. Olatunde Adepitan, has advised youths to take their studies seriously, if they want to accomplish their life desires.
He stated this at St. Jude’s Primary School, zIlasamaja, where the council is organizing a tutorial programme for pupils writing the ongoing Nov/Dec Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.
He said, “As a responsible and responsive local government, we take education as one of our priorities. No nation can develop without educating its citizens. This is why we organized the free coaching classes, and it is to remind the pupils that they have to take their studies seriously.”
Adepitan, who also described the gesture as one of the dividends of democracy, said the exercise would go a long way in assisting the candidates in the examination.
The council, he said, engaged qualified teachers to conduct the tutorials for the pupils.
He added, “The burden of paying the teachers will be borne by the local government. This is meant to reduce the financial stress on your parents.”
