One of suspended students of the Africa's most beautiful campus, Sanyaolu Oluwajuwon a.k.a Comrade Juwon has dragged the management of Obafemi Awolowo University to the Law Court over what he felt as unjustifiable and illegal indefinite suspension of his studentship.
Comrade Juwon had earlier on the 16th September, 2014 filed a suit at the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, the capital of The State of Osun challenging his suspension.
The Court which sat today for the first time on the suit could not do much as the case was adjourned till November 13, 2014. This was based on the objection raised by the Defense Counsels that their client jut got the writ of summon yesterday.
Apart from the Students' Union leaders of the citadel who are currently on probation, eight students including Comrade Juwon were suspended immediately after the students' struggle against the obnoxious hike in school fees on the basis ranging from the allegation of "Abduction" of a certain Angels who was the returning Electoral Officer for the Union Elective offices last year to failure to appear before the Investigative Panel that investigated the matters concerning the school fees increment protest.
Other students suspended by the management include Olusoji Benjamin (Mandela), Ibirogba Samuel (Sammy), Abimbola Abiodun (Anchor), Olubanji Oluwole (Engels), Adabale Olamide (Olamide), Ademuwagun Johnson(Johnson), Pete Obasa (Chocomilo).
Also, Olawale Ogunruku, who has been suspended since 2011 as a result of his action during the acceptance fee increment by the Faborode-led administration remains suspended.
Just immediately after the case adjournment, men of the Nigerian Police Force arrested the Students' Union president, Ibikunle Isaac Motunrayo and the Secretary General of the Union, Shittu Olatayo and other students and detained them at the Police Headquarters in Oshogbo for no obvious reasons.
They were later released hours later following the intervention of some other persons.
Speaking after his release, Ibikunle stated that "we remain undaunted in the struggle to reinstate the Suspended 9".
A call also put to the Police headquarters in Oshogbo to ascertain why they were detained proved abortive as at the time of writing this report.
