SUBEB Laments Overpopulation and Empty Classes in Yobe

The Executive Chairman of Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Musa Alabe, has decried the poor educational drive in the state, despite the large population. Prof. Musa said the major challenge of the education sector has been the issue of low enrolment and lack of zeal for academic activities by locals.

Prof. Alabe disclosed this during the flag-off of reconstruction and rehabilitation of 40 classrooms in Fika local government area by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

According to him, the major problems faced in the southern part of the state is overcrowding, while in northern Yobe, there are empty classes.

To address these issues, the SUBEB Chairman presented two strategies which are to take advocacy campaigns to the northern part and provide infrastructure to reduce overpopulation in the southern part of the state.
