Students Win GTbank Car, Scholarship, TV, Phones, Fridges, Others:

It was a welcome back party of sort from the five months old Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike for students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday evening when the roof of the university’s Sports Centre was nearly brought down after a performance by rave of the moment Wizkid.

Guaranty Trust Bank treated the students, who had begun returning after resumption of academic activities on Tuesday, to a party at the Mini Cooper Giveaway presentation.

The event was a loyalty reward promo for holders of its trendy, card-based interest bearing undergraduate account called GTcrea8 e-savers.

According to the bank’s Managing Director, Segun Agbaje, the essence of the promo is to promote both a savings culture and an increased adoption of the use of alternate banking channels amongst Nigerian students.

The promo, which commenced in March this year, has rewarded account holders with gifts such as Blackberry Phones, Ipods, laptops, Samsung Galaxy tabs, LED TV and mini fridges in its monthly zonal draws.

To qualify for the promo, students in tertiary institutions are required to open a GTCrea8 e-savers account. In addition, they are also required to conduct a minimum of three transactions per month on alternate banking channels such as ATMs, POS and internet banking, while also maintaining a minimum account balance of N5,000 for six consecutive months.

Miss Shallom Wigwe-Elisha, 300-Level student was presented the key to the mini cooper car, a stylish fun to drive subcompact coupe with an efficient, boxy front wheel-drive layout, by Agbaje, after she had been picked through a raffle draw.

Also, Muhammad Isad was presented with a one million Naira scholarship from the bank for being its five millionth customer.

According to the Head Communication and External Affairs division, Lola Odesina, GTB designed the product to suit the online lifestyle of Nigerian post-secondary students. And added that the gesture is in line with the bank’s support for education, financial discipline and the continuous use of innovation to drive enriching customer experience.
