Ndudi Ogwu a 22 year old ND II mechanical engineering student of the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwahi-uku has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour for kidnapping a nurse.
Ndudi was sentenced alongside one Chukwudi Ifemeni, a 22 years old businessman to 10 years imprisonment each on the count of kidnapping and 4 years for conspiracy.
According to the prosecution, Ndudi and Chukwudi Ifemeni with two others now at large on 13th September, 2012 kidnapped one Mrs. Kate Okogu, wife to one Honourable Paul Okogu at ughelli while she was returning home and took her to a forest along Isoko-Patani Road where she was kept as a captive.
She was later rescued by a Patrol team of the JTF led by one Sergent Austin Osudibia the next day.
Ndudi Ogwu was arrested at the scene as he was the one assigned to look after the victim. The confession by Ndudi led to the arrest of Chukwudi Ifemeni. They agreed to committing the crime in their confessions but denied it during the trial.
