WISER is pleased to announce a new, long-term research project into African Trust Infrastructures. With generous support from Standard Bank we will be hosting a new doctoral research programme examining the development of digital population registration systems, and their effects on institutions.
About Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research (WISER)
Established by Deborah Posel in September 2001 WISER very quickly established itself as the pre-eminent interdisciplinary research institute in the humanities and social sciences in South Africa, and one of the most influential globally. Aim and Benefits of Doctoral Fellowship
Fellows will receive funding for three years; the package for the first year will be R180 000. This will cover university fees, research expenses and provide a living allowance. Some assistance with conference funding may also be available. Fellows will be required to undertake up to 5 hours work a week for WiSER.
Requirements for Doctoral Fellowship Qualification
Outstanding candidates from any appropriate discipline.
