SSANU begs FG to pay their outstanding earned allowances

The leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has once again, asked the Federal Government to release the N50 billion unpaid earned allowances to the universities and inter-university centers. The union made the appeal after its 43rd Regular National Executive Council meeting held in Katsina state.

Mohammed Ibrahim, the SSANU National President claimed that the NEC has observed the long overdue delay in the payment of the outstanding N50 billion earned allowances and they are urging the government to keep to their word and not to renege on their promises to avoid industrial disputes in the system.

The union also called for the payment of arrears of the New National Minimum Wage for some of its members who have either been paid or were yet to be fully paid their entitlements.

Ibrahim further condemned the Office of the Head of Service for interfering in the promotion of members in universities and Inter-University Centres, saying it is the primary job of the Councils of Universities.
