We invest greatly in South Africa’s employed and unemployed youth through various development programmes and support training and education linked to youth unemployment through pivotal programmes. Opportunities include our Retail Readiness Programme (RRP), the Youth Employment Services (YES) Initiative, and comprehensive study bursaries in several academic fields.
As we honour #YouthMonth, the Shoprite Group encourages unemployed South Africans between ages 18 and 34 to apply for its early career development programmes that provide young people with the skills and on-the-job training they need to work in a retail environment.
The Youth Employment Service is a business-driven initiative with government and labour that builds economic pathways for youth to help reduce unemployment.
The programme provides 12 months on-the-job training where participants are exposed to various parts of the retail business. On completion of the programme, successful YES learners are skilled to work in retail or start their own retail business.
