The Edo State Government has announced through its Commissioner for Education, Jimoh Ijegbai the resumption of primary and secondary schools for the 2020/2021 academic session from Monday, September 28.
Mr Ijegbai revealed this on Tuesday in Benin, adding that social distancing protocols will be observed. He remarked that secondary schools would operate with JSS 1-3 classes holding from 8 am to 11 am while SSS 1-3 classes would receive lectures from 12 noon to 3 pm.
The Commissioner called on the management of schools to ensure strict compliance with the COVID-19 safety guidelines and advised parents and guardians to provide face masks for their children and wards to prevent the spread of the virus.
He stated that copies of the 2020/2021 academic calendar should be collected from the office of the Chief Inspectors of Education in the 18 local government areas of Edo State.
Mr Ijegbai revealed that the sale of forms for the examination into the six model schools in the state was still on, while the entrance examination had been moved from September 26 to October 3.
