The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, has stated that any principal caught collecting illegal levies with regard to the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination will be sanctioned.
He gave the warning during a meeting with Zonal Directors, Rivers State representatives of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools in Port Harcourt on Monday.
“I am aware that some principals in the junior secondary schools have been charging various sums of money for BECE for reasons best known to them. They have heard that the government is intolerant of corruption of any kind” he said.
