A postgraduate student, Ms Zubaida, Running a Masters programme at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has been found dead at Tamburawa river, Kano on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018.
According to information gathered, Ms Zubaida Nuhu was running her programme at the Department of Water Resources Engineering and was about to start working in the same department as a graduate assistant. She left home on Saturday to withdraw money and embark on a journey to Zaria. According to her step-father, “On that fateful Saturday around 11.00 a.m she told her mother she wanted go to withdraw money from ATM. Few minutes later, she sent her phone and purse to her mother. Her mother called me around 4.00 p.m that Zubaida left home to withdraw money since 11.00 a.m but hasn’t comeback. Immediately I notified police and local radio stations”.
It was reported that on her arrival to Kano, Ms Zubaida went further to ask a sand excavator, Mr Ibrahim Musa on which part of the Tamburawa river is the deepest. And ever since no one has heard from her. Unfortunately Mr. Taiuddeen the father said he received a call informing him of a corpse that was found at Tamburawa river, he got there to discover that it was the remains of his daughter.
Although, the death has been suspected to be a suicidal case as a result of depression but no facts has been revealed.
