Read The Sentence Passed on 20-year-old Student Who Impersonated Emir of Kano

On Monday, 26th March, 2018, the 20-year-old student charged with impersonating the Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, was sentenced to 36 months in jail by a Kano Senior Magistrates’ Court.

Sultan Bello had run an Instagram account in the name of the Emir, using the social platform to make fraudulent activities. 

Sultan Bello was arraigned on a three-count charge of impersonation, cheating and defamation of character. the convict pleaded guilty and begged for leniency

Senior Magistrate Hassan Ahmad sentenced Bello to one year imprisonment or pay a fine of N30,000 for impersonation.

He was also sentenced to another year in jail or pay a fine of N30,000 for cheating.

He was further sentenced to 12 more months in prison with option to pay a fine of N30,000 for defamation of character.

The convict had already swindled the sum of N1.85 million from some victims, and has been ordered by the Judge to make arrangement on how he would remit the money to them.
