PTA Rejects Students’ Transfer to Katsina

PTA Rejects Students’ Transfer to Katsina:

The Parents Teachers Association, Federal Government Science and Technical College, Michika in Adamawa, says its members will not allow their children’s transfer to a similar school in Katsina State.

The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that following the Feb. 20 insurgents’ attack on FGC Buni-Yadi in Yobe, the Federal Ministry of Education had closed down five Unity Schools.

Federal Government Science and Technical College, Michika in Adamawa is one of the schools affected by the development.

The school’s PTA chairman, Mr Elijah Kwada, told NAN in a telephone interview that the parents had held a meeting of the association to discuss the issue.

He said the meeting resolved that the parents would not move their children to Katsina or anywhere else.

“We had a meeting on Monday and resolved that our children are not going anywhere,” Kwada said.

He said the parents also resolved to rather demand for adequate security in the school and not the transfer of their children.

“How sure are we that even Katsina is safe?” the PTA chairman said.

He however said the association had put the parents’ position into writing and would take it to the Federal Ministry of Education.

Kwada said the children were now at home and their parents would rather, if need be, find for them an alternative in private schools for them. (NAN)
