Protesters believed to be indigenes of Epkoma blocked the entrance leading to the Ambrose Ali University in protest against the sack of some security officers and cleaners by the university's management.
According to the protesters, the dismissed staff members had worked for months in the institution without pay only to be sacked by the Edo state government and the school authority. They also claimed contract staff have been hired as replacements.
In the protest ground, the aggrieved protesters occupied the school gate by mounting canopies, a cooking stand, and hired the service of a disc jockey (DJ) to supply music as they declared that they wouldn't open the gate until the sacked workers have been paid and reaffirmed.
