In recent years much attention has been directed to the different use to which land is being put by social scientists most especially urban planners who said out environment today is the result of an economic sociological aesthetic and a call it is essences and since land is a scarce resource it is essential therefore that land is used effectively and efficiently
Land pattern refers to the various forms and arrangement to which land is subjected to critical study of the various towns and cities show a similar pattern of land use the following categories of land use in urban area residential of land use industrial land use commercials education and administrator recreational and social land use including wasteland such as rocky areas it must be noted moreover that most about cities and urban center shows a land use the question of how uniform the ecological pattern of these cities led to the carrying out of several researches and studies to those concerning the uniformity in the ecological to formulate pattern this made the ecologists to formulate pattern of the cities in essence this project intends to study the critical analysis of land use pattern in Osogbo metropolis with a view to find out the relationship that exists between land use pattern with some suggested solution and recommendation Osun became state in August 27 1991 in the sixth year anniversary broadcasting of President Abraham Babangida. The state was one of the Nigeria new states created in 1991 others are Abia State, Kebbi state, Kogi state, Delta State Jigawa state Enugu state, Yobe state and Taraba state before this time the state was part of old western region and later became part of the old Oyo State before it finally became a state today most of the towns and villages in Osun State of today are as the country itself.
The state capital is Oshogbo with a total number of 30 local government councils among the major towns in Osun State are Oshogbo, Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Ede, Ila-Orangun, Ejigbo among others has a total land of 86,000 in two square kilometers and share boundary with Kwara in the north, Oyo in the West, Ogun and Ondo in the South and Ekiti in the east
The national figure of 1991 put the state population as 1,144,907 male and 1,193,663 female with the population density of 233 and in 2006 the total population is 3,423,535 with the population density of 379 and the current population density is 4,000,000.
Before the inception as the state capital does not harbor much number of people but since the inception as the state capital the number of people increase and many environment economics and development changes occur hence the introduction of banks and industries spring up which lead to the growth and expansion of the state the rental value increases to a great change to the physical and economic activities in Oshogbo state the state was blessed with abundant deposited of natural resources such as gold, clay, limestone and granite
