The “QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE”, the mantra of the 6th substantive Vice-Chancellor, has recorded another milestone with the official commissioning of one Pay Loader and Bulldozer equipment recently acquired by the University.
Speaking during the commissioning of the equipment which took place on Friday, November 1, 2013, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chigozie C. Asiabaka described the procurement of the equipment as a major breakthrough in the landscaping and beautification of the University environment. He lamented that hitherto, the University has spent huge sum in hiring bulldozers for bush clearing and landscaping programme.
In his remarks, the Director, Physical Planning and Development Unit, Engr. Nnanna Okoro, commended Management for its initiative in acquiring the heavy equipment which he noted would solve the beautification challenges of the University. In his presentation, Engr Okoro stated that this was the first time the University has acquired Earth-moving/clearing equipment. He noted that the equipment would be used to carry out clearing of bushes, landscaping of the campus, replanting of perimeter beacons of the University land boundary etc
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied to the commissioning by Principal Officers of the University and other staff of the University.
