Chairman, Ebonyi state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr Francis Elechi has remarked that prioritising the education sector will enable the government to put better plans in place to promote its standards.
Mr Elechi made this statement in Abakaliki on Thursday while calling on the state government to place more priority on the development of education in the state.
According to him, educational development entails more than providing employment and transcends into creating the enabling environment for learning and putting necessary infrastructures in place as well.
The NUT Chairman, who described education as imperative to nation-building, added that the government must step up their plans because education needs constant funding for it to grow.
