Primary school pupil found dead inside a water drum days after going missing

The family of a primary 6 pupil has alleged conspiracy in the death of their child, 11-year-old Joshua Sunday after his lifeless body was found inside a drum of water three days after he went missing in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Speaking to newsmen, Joshua's mother, Christy Garuba alleged that her son was killed and his body deposited in the drum by the perpetrators to cover up the deed.

She revealed that she had traveled to the western part of the country and on her way back to Asaba on Thursday, February 2, she called to check up on Joshua who was still in school at the time because he was having after school lesson for common entrance.

She said she informed him that she was on her way back home and when she got home that night, she found Joshua's slippers scattered on the ground but he was nowhere to be found. When she inquired from the domestic servant about his whereabouts, she was told he went to charge his phone.

Joshua was eventually reported missing at the A’ Division police station and after three days, Mrs. Garuba said she was told to go and check somewhere for her son, and immediately she went out, she was called and informed that her son has been found. When she went back home, she found his corpse inside a drum of water in her corridor.

Mrs. Garuba insists that the dead body was sneaked in and dumped in the drum when she went out because she had fetched water from the same drum the previous day.

She called on the security agency in the state to speed up action against the killer in order to give him justice.
