President Jonathan Commissions Projects at FUTO

Speaking during the commissioning of some TETFUND projects in the University, the President who was represented by the Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Ruquayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i expressed happiness over the massive infrastructural development in the University.

She commended the FUTO Management for the landmark achievements while noting that the University must have judiciously managed its internally generated revenue.

She further disclosed that the Federal Government has released N100b for infrastructural development in all the public Universities and N30b for earned allowances of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the various public Universities.

In his welcome address at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his joy and gratitude to His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, the Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Ruquayyatu Ahmed Rufa’I, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Mike John Nwaobiara and the Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, Prof Julius Okojie for their interventions through the various agencies of Federal Government in the funding and development of critical capital projects in the University.

He noted that these projects would ameliorate the infrastructural challenges in the University. He listed some of the projects to include completed projects: 1000 sitting capacity Lecture Theatre, Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies Building, Department of Physics Building: on-going projects: School of Engineering and Engineering Technology New Building complex, Centre for Nuclear Energy Studies and Training Complex, School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology Training Complex, School of Environmental Technology Building, Landscaping of the campus and the provision of Solar Energy lights on campus.

In his remarks the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of 10th Governing Council, Dr E. M. I. Enemuo expressed the appreciation of the Governing Council to the Federal Government for the infrastructural development in the University.

The Minister later commissioned the TETFUND projects which include the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies Building and Department of Physics Building.She also inspected some on-going projects. The commissioning was attended by Principal Officers, Deans Directors, Heads of Department/Units, Co-ordinators, Traditional Rulers from the FUTO host communities and Journalists.
