President Muhammad Buhari has approved the appointment of 10 family members of deceased National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who lost their lives during the 2011 post-election violence in Bauchi State into the federal civil service.
According to the minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare who made the disclosure on Tuesday, June 15 during the inauguration ceremony of the NYSC national governing board, the appointees are direct siblings of the deceased corps members.
Also, the minister called for the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund that will make the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program more functional. Dare added that the fund would strengthen the Scheme and deepen its impact.
He further assured Nigerians that the NYSC will not be scrapped by the federal government as it is an integral part of Nigeria's development and unity.
