Post-UTME Scrap Is A Boost To Anti-corruption War – Rights Group

A group identified as Stand Up Nigeria has stated that the move by the Federal Government to scrap Post-UTME is a welcome development and a boost to the anti-corruption fight in the education sector.

In a statement by the secretary general, Sunday Attah, the group described as a means most schools use to exploit students in the guise of screening them for competence.

He said the examination was also a loophole for corruption as most tertiary institution's staff admit their own choice of candidates with little or no regard to their UTME Scores.

The statement further commended the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Dibu Ojerinde and his team for bringing about the change that restored the credibility of the examination body; stating that the decision by Federal Government to scrap Post-UTME is due to the fact that the integrity and confidence on JAMB has been restored.
