Poor bandwidth hampers the growth of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Nigeria, says Federal Government
The Federal Government has said its effort at enthroning and popularing Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the country are being hampered by poor bandwidth necessary for smooth internet connectivity.
It also listed epileptic power supply, insufficient pool of IT professionals and low ICT literacy among teachers and educational administrators as other factors which have slowed down the growth of ICT in the country.
The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike said this when he declared open the 2014 Information Technology (IT) Professionals Assembly in Abuja with the theme “Harnessing the Potentials of IT Professionals for National Development”.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, MacJohn Nwaobiala, Wike also pointed out a problem of curriculum obsolescence and high curriculum dynamism in ICT, including poor regulation of ICT education delivery especially at the non-formal sector as other obstacles.
