A female teacher at Golden Olive Academy, Maiduguri, Borno state has been arrested by the police for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old primary pupil.
The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Sani Kamilu Shatambaya, who confirmed the arrest on Saturday, November 25, 2022, said a thorough and objective investigation on the matter is ongoing, and it will later be referred to court.
The father of the victim, Hassan Dala, alleged that the teacher used to hide his daughter inside her hijab veil, and used her finger to defile her. He added that the child started complaining of pains in her private part, but the mother first ignored it, dismissing it as normal.
But when the complaints persisted, the mother noticed blood in the child’s urine, and she was taken to a private clinic at Bulumkutu, Miyetti Clinic, where a doctor advised her to investigate what happened. An investigation at Umaru Shehu Hospital confirmed thrusting into the child’s private part.
Teachers in the school were paraded and the pupil pointed at the particular teacher that carried out the abuse.
