Police Arrest 19 Students Over Cult Activities

A total of 19 secondary school students have been detained by men of the Nigerian police for alleged membership to a popular cult group known as Eiye Confraternity.

The suspects consisting of six girls and thirteen boys are students of All Soul's Anglican Grammar school Ado Ekiti were said to have confessed to the school's security agent of their membership to the cult group.

SchoolGist gathered that six of the suspects are girls. The principal of the school, Mrs. Grace Ibikunle told journalists yesterday that the arrest followed a disagreement between a male and female student over love overtures made to the female student.

The Police PRO in charge, Mr. Victor Babayemi confirmed the arrest, saying the students were arrested following complaints from their teachers and parents over their alleged involvement in cultism. He added that the suspects have been released to their parents on bail.
