Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong while addressing reporters in Jos, described the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) reasons for embarking on strike at the Plateau State University (PLASU) as incorrect, ridiculous, and uncharitable.
The governor denied claims made by ASUU that his government was nonchalant and had abandoned the state’s university without any capital project apart from the ones being undertaken through TETFUND. He argued that upon his assumption in office, the university was virtually shut down and in a state of coma, but it was revived as a result of his administration's passion for education.
Lalong disclosed that he had since set up a 7-man committee to appeal to ASUU to call off their strike to allow students to return to school.
